Mila Meets Santa

Today we took Mila to meet Santa for the first time! It was so exciting! We took her to the Galleria Mall near us and I was so happy to see there was a very short line. There were other kids there all dressed up waiting to see Santa. I had thought about dressing her up, but we kind of decided to go last minute so I just left her in her outfit. She looked cute anyway!

After seeing several friend's Santa pictures with the babies on Santa's lap screaming their heads off, Jorge and I had decided ahead of time that we weren't going to put her on Santa's lap, instead, we would be in the picture too and we would hold her and he'd just be next to us. I was concerned she would still cry, but we let her see him while we were in line and she could see the other kids with him.

Before I knew it, it was our turn - we sat Mila down and she did great - no crying! That was all I was hoping for. She clung to Jorge's shirt  for dear life though! The photographer was really nice and was making goofy faces to try to get her to smile. After he took several shots, and made us blind with flash in the process, we got to talk to Santa. In some places, they just move you along because Santa's so busy, but here we actually got to talk with him for a few minutes! He was so sweet and warm. We told him what a good girl Mila had been all year. He even gave Mila a little toy elf, but we made sure he knew what she really wanted for Christmas - some instruments, a guitar, a remote control like Mommy and Daddy's and a cell phone like Mommy and Daddy's. He said he'd make sure to get it for her.

Here's the picture we decided to go with - it was the only one where she wasn't clinging to Jorge's shirt, and there's even a half-smile! After we bought it though, it occurred to me that perhaps the better picture would have been the one where she was clinging to his shirt because it was so adorable. Oh well! I'm happy with this one too!
