First Halloween!

Happy Halloween! Jorge, Mila and I are kickin' it old school and dressed up as a totally 80's family, LOL! The only things we had to buy for the costumes were the tutu for Mila at TJ Maxx and a $5 white shirt for Jorge from Old Navy. I then made a Pac-Man iron on for his shirt and we were set! I love homemade costumes!!

Family costume!

Love this! She looks so cute in her tutu!

I love how cute Mila looks in her "leotard"!
"Let's get physical… physical!" Haha

Cindy joined us for a little fun with the babies!

Spencer and John went all out for their costumes! So spooky!

Pumpkin Patch

Today Mila, Jorge and I went to our first Pumpkin Patch as a family! Growing up, we didn't carve pumpkins in my family, so I had never been to one before. It was so nice go together!

Abuelita & BisAbuelita Visit

My mom and my grandmother came over today for a visit. It was so nice to spend sometime together!

And of course, Mila had to show off her Halloween costume! Originally, we weren't planning on dressing up for Halloween, but our friend Lisa invited us to a "Baby Boo Bash" on Sunday and I've been stressing thinking of a good family costume. I'm all about home made costumes (if you remember, my redneck costume won me a $250 prize at work last year!) but this year I was stumped. I considered continuing my redneck costume from last year and having Mila in a tank top and diapers, and Jorge dress up as my "wife", you know with a muumuu and shower cap or something (hahahaha!) … but he was totally not into that, LOL! So, as I had no idea what to dress Mila up as and as the date was approaching, I bought this one. Mila makes one cute lovebug!!

She almost looks like she's doing the Captain Morgan in this one!

Now -- OF COURSE -- I buy this costume and that night a great homemade family costume idea hits me. AND Jorge approved it. YAY!! So I ended up returning the Lovebug costume… and what costume idea did we finally decide on, you ask? You're just gonna have to wait until Halloween to find out! :)

Baby This Week: 42 Weeks

Your baby may still only babble, but don't underestimate how much he understands. Babies pick up on the meaning of words — and your tone of voice — before they learn to speak. Your baby may even respond to simple requests or words of discipline such as a warning "No!" Talk to him often about what you're doing, where you're going, and the names of the foods he eats, and say his name. Try to taper off the baby talk so he hears plenty of real words during the day.

Your baby is just beginning to understand many simple words and phrases, so it's more important than ever to keep talking to him. Give your chatterbox a head start on good speech patterns by repeating his words back to him using adult language. If he asks for a "bah-bah," for example, gently reinforce the correct pronunciation by asking, "Do you want a bottle?" At this stage of the game, it's best to try to avoid the tendency to use baby talk — it can be fun, but hearing the right words is better for your baby's development.

Though it may sometimes feel silly, having a conversation with your baby is a great way to encourage his language skills. When he rattles off a sentence of gibberish, respond with, "Oh, really? How interesting." He'll probably smile and keep chattering away.

Baby Cafe

A few of the moms from our Mother's Group got together for a playdate at a Baby Cafe that had a fantastic play area for toddlers. It was perfect for the babies!!

How cute are the babies on the little couch?! So cute! It was so hard to keep them on there, though… I had to bust out with "Elmo's Song" to keep them still long enough for us to take this pics, haha!

B lookin' extra groovy

Baby This Week: 41 Weeks

Your baby is probably beginning to cover more territory, whether by scooting and crawling or by cruising upright, or maybe even by trying a few tentative first steps. (LOL! Mila is sooooo far past this! She's practically running!) When you're indoors, you may want to let your baby go without shoes, booties, or socks -- experts believe going barefoot helps a baby's foot develop properly and promotes better balance and coordination.

Your baby's personality is really emerging now. She may be very social, granting broad smiles to everyone she meets, or a little more shy, hiding her face when well-meaning strangers try to engage her. Your baby may charge ahead boldly or assess the situation carefully before going further. She might be even tempered or switch her moods quite dramatically.
She'll gesture for your attention and may wave goodbye when she sees you head for the door. She's also developing a mind of her own, which you may run up against when you try to put her in her car seat or stroller.
