Music Together Class
After having been here last week for the free Mommy and Me class, we decided to sign up for a music class. Mila loves music, so I know she'll love it. Today we sang songs and played with instruments.

Mommy and Me Class
We'd taken a break from our Mommy and Me classes since the holidays, but there was a free class today, and thought Mila might enjoy it. It was so nice that the three of us could all go together! It was so much fun. After class, we went to the playground and met up with our Mommy friends, Claudia and Nikki!

Water Spout Fun... Well, Almost...
Today we went to our Baby Class and went on a little field trip to enjoy some water play with the babies! It was a lot of fun - there is a fountain area where the children can play with little water spouts. Like the pool from my previous post, she was uncertain about the spouts, but she got more comfortable as she got used to it. Then -- I'm so ashamed to admit -- in effort to get her closer to the water, as well as document this adorable event, I accidentally hit her on the head with the camera (I know!!!! Bad Mommy!!!) and she wasn't happy after that. Even after she calmed down, she didn't want me to put her down. I tried getting her into it again and got drenched in the process, but she wasn't having it. So no more pictures with the spouts after that and no more water fun. :( We'll have to try going again another day! Hopefully there will be no more camera incidents!
I was able to get these pictures though! :)

Mommy & Me Class
Even though Jorge was home today for our anniversary, today was also the first day of Mila's Mommy and Me class. We had a wonderful time! We sang a bunch of songs (which I recorded with my camera so I could learn them later) and Mila loved them!! But when it was time to play with the toys, Mila wanted to nurse, so we didn't get a chance to do too much interaction. After the class, the teacher gave us a tour of the facility and it was fantastic! They have music classes and art classes and even a class where kids can make a mess! In that class, they are all 2 years and under and stripped to their diapers and they are free to grab pudding and jello and all that fun stuff and go crazy! I would LOVE to do that class with Mila! Sounds like so much fun! They also offer daycare services and classes where the mom can stay or where you can leave the kids. That way, you can transition the children to being in the class and getting to know the teacher while you're there, and when you and they are comfortable, you can start leaving them for a couple of hours. I know at some point we'll have to put Mila in daycare and it's just so great that they have this option. I also really like that I can get to know the teachers and the facility myself, as opposed to just dropping her off someplace I'm not familiar with. I know, I know, I'm a hovering mother!! Ugh, I can't help it!
Here are a few pictures from our class. :)

Preparing for Baby
36 weeks, 2 days pregnant
Today Jorge and I went to the hospital to attend our Baby Care class. We learned so much! We learned how to change a diaper, how to bathe her, how to care for the umbilical cord, what to do when she cries and even some basics on breastfeeding. It was a really good class. Jorge and I have no experience with babies, so it's great to have some kind of run-through of what to expect.
Here's a picture of us at the end of class with our "baby" fully diapered! Jorge looks soooooo cute with my cabbage patch! LOL!

Speaking of what to expect, they showed this video in class. It's a clip from "I Love Lucy" and it cracked me up! Enjoy!

Infant CPR & Child Safety
35 weeks pregnant
This week has been really productive! Jorge and I have been really busy! On Wednesday we had our Infant CPR class at our hospital. It was very, very interesting. My dad, my sister in law Blanca, my sister Cindy and her husband Justin all attended the class with us. I was so happy they all wanted to participate! My mom and my sister Cathy will be taking the class down in Miami in a couple of weeks. Here are the basics of CPR and how to help a choking child. Hopefully we'll never need to use these, but you just never know!!! (source: www.washington.edu)

If the baby is NOT breathing give 2 small gentle breaths. Cover the baby's mouth and nose with your mouth. Each breath should be 1 second long. You should see the baby's chest rise with each breath.

Give 30 gentle chest compressions at the rate of 100 per minute. Use two or three fingers in the center of the chest just below the nipples. Press down approximately one-third the depth of the chest.

Repeat with 2 breath and 30 compressions. After two minutes of repeated cycles call 911 and continue giving breaths and compressions.
