Shopping Cart Cover

Mila at Publix using her shopping cart cover! It's been cold out these last few days and since her fleece pjs are the warmest things she has, I just left her in her pjs, LOL.

She seems to enjoy being in here, although she wants to touch everything. I usually wear her in the Ergo, but this is a nice alternative so I don't have to carry the extra 20 lbs.

This shopping cart cover is the Balboa Baby cover - it can be used as a high chair cover too. I did sooo much research trying to find the right one. This was the criteria I was looking for in a cover:

1 - Most important: it must cover the WHOLE seat. No parts exposed because Mila will lick them. Yuck.
2 - Must fit larger carts like Target.
3 - Must have a built in seat belt so I don't have to use the nasty ones in carts/high chairs.
4 - Would be nice if it folds up conveniently.
5 - Not too expensive!

This one fulfilled all of my requirements. The reviews on Amazon were really great. The price was alright -  they were about $45 bucks or so (I've seen some for a $100!) But then I found this one online at diapers.com and it was on sale for $25 because it was the solid-colored version as opposed to the ones with the cute prints. It was a great deal! And now that I have it, I'm so happy with it. A very good buy! It's a great material, folds up into a pouch, baby never touches any part of the cart/high chair... I love it!

Mila's Mobile

Mila has been sleeping next to our bed in the Graco Pack N' Play bassinet. However, the weight limit is 15 lbs for the bassinet feature, and Mila is pretty close to outgrowing it. We need to start transitioning her into her crib. I've tried putting her in there but she hasn't really taken to it. Jorge and I thought that now that Mila is able to see a bit farther, we thought we'd get her a mobile for the crib to see if she'd get more comfortable in there with something to look at. I researched the best mobile and found that this one would be great: the Fisher-Price Precious Planet 2-in-1 Projection Mobile.

What I really like about it is that not only does it play music and turn, it also has a light projector, which is perfect because Mila loves light! This mobile also lasts longer than others, since mobiles should be removed from the crib when baby can sit up, as it's a hazard in case baby uses the dangling toys to pull herself up. So after baby is about 4 or 5 months, you can't use them anymore. But with this mobile, the toy part detaches so when baby outgrows the mobile part of it, it can still be used for the music and as a projector for the ceiling. Genius! Long lasting, entertaining and safe!

My dad and I went to buy it today and I was able to put it together easily. I thought it might take her some time to get used to it, (just like it did with her swing) especially since she's in the crib. As soon as I put it together, she started getting fussy and I thought I'd give it a try and put her in to see what she thought. She cried at first, but as she saw the moving lights, she quited down... miracle! She loved it from the beginning! She's now happy in there watching her mobile for a good 10 minutes at a time, long enough to heat up some lunch! Love it!

Toyota Venza

We'd been planning on buying a new car for Jorge for a while, and yesterday we took the plunge! We got the 2010 Toyota Venza. Sweet! Jorge's car was already on it's last leg, with over 187,000 miles on it and was starting to give us trouble (although Jorge optimistically thinks he could've taken it to 250,000, LOL!). Besides that, it was a two-door and it would be very difficult to access a carseat for the baby. It was time for a new car! This one has so much more room! We love it!

Shower Complete!

The shower is complete! It looks soooo much better than before. Jorge took down the horrid shower doors we had and installed a shower curtain we got a Target. This way it's easier to bathe Baby G without having to fight with the doors. We put a foldable table in the shower with the little baby tub on it and there's even room for her baby soaps and baby shampoo. I can almost see here now! :)

Making Progress!

35 weeks pregnant, 2 days pregnant

Jorge took Thursday and Friday off this week so we could get the carpet cleaned and so we can get the crib delivered! Woo-hoo! I've been looking forward to seeing the crib in the room for the longest time! Isn't it beautiful???

Jorge has been on a roll! He's totally rocked it this week! He also working on the shower and removed the old shower doors so it would be easier to use for baby G. The shower curtains still need to be installed, but it's almost done!

And he's installed the carseat in my car. Yayyy!!! He even put in my "Baby On Board" sign!

The only downside has been that he seems to have caught the terrible cold I had last week! Poor thing! It started on Wednesday, but today it's gotten really bad. He's now sleeping in the other room and he's quarantined himself away from me, haha! We've even gone so far to call each other on the phone from one room to the other! We're just being really cautious, he's afraid of getting me sick now that we're just a few short weeks away. So in comes my mom to the rescue!! She came over today and she's been wonderful! First she made some chicken soup for Jorge (amazing by the way!!!) and then spent the rest of the day helping me do laundry and organizing Baby G's room and preparing my hospital bag while Jorge rested. I love my mom, I swear, I don't know what I'd do without her! :)

Painting the Nursery

32 weeks, 1 day pregnant

This week, Jorge took a couple days off from work to paint the baby's room. I'm so excited to see the nursery start coming together! Right now it's an office/guest room and the walls are forest green. We'd decided to paint it a color called "Toasted Wheat" that is a cream/beige color. It will look great with the dark wooden furniture of the crib and dresser, as well as all the pink accents in the room. I can't wait to see it complete! It's been hard to get a chance to paint it, mostly because I shouldn't be around when he's painting because of the fumes. So he took a couple days off and Blanca came over to help. I was surprised that they got so much done in one day!! They did an awesome job!! I love how it's coming out!!!Here's a sneak peek at the progress!

First Registry Gift! From Grammy!

23 weeks, 4 days pregnant

Last week, Jorge and I received our first gift from our registry! It was from Jorge's mom, aka "Grammy"! It's a musical carseat arch that hangs from the carseat handle or from the stroller. It has bright colors and when you press the toy in the middle it plays a cute little tune. Adorable!! I put it up to my tummy so Baby G could hear! I think she liked it! ;) Thanks, Mrs. G!!!

Gaby & Reuben In Town From Dubai

21 weeks, 1 day pregnant

Our good friends Gaby and Reuben were in town from Dubai!! I haven't seen Gaby since late last year and Reuben hasn't been back in the states for 2 years. We've missed them! They were only in town for a day on a layover, so we met with Mily and her kids and Gaby's aunt and uncle at P.F. Changs for dinner on Wednesday. Gaby was so excited to see my bump!

They spent the night at our place and then we hung out with them Thursday during the day until their flight in the early afternoon. We went with them to Lissette's house (she just gave birth to Carlos Mauricio 6 weeks ago!) to visit her new baby. What a cutie! Then we dropped off Gaby and Reuben at the airport. Reuben will be stopping through again on his return trip at the end of the month and Gaby will be back in October in time for the baby shower. They are our closest friends -- Jorge and Reuben have known each other since grade school and Gaby and I met in college. It is through them that Jorge and I met! :)

They brought these sweet gifts for Baby G!

Cute onsies!

Sockies!!!

And this adorabe Hello Kitty bib! Love it!
