Orlando - Around Town

We left the hotel and started our drive back to Fort Lauderdale, but Mommy wanted some ice-cream! So we searched for a Coldstone's Creamery nearby, and we ended up in the adorable shopping center with really nice architecture. Couldn't help myself but pull out the camera!

Orlando - In the Kiddie Pool

Our last day in Orlando, we went down to the kiddie pool so Mila could play. I was sunburned from yesterday (despite many layers of sunblock!!) so I stayed in the shade taking pictures.

It was Mila's first time in a kiddie pool, so it was totally understandable that Jorge was a bit protective of Mila. You can see how the in the first 15 minutes, Jorge didn't let her go, not even for an instant! But  then he finally let her venture off. This is exactly how your Daddy is with you all the time! Always careful with his little girl. He loves you so very much!! :)

Orlando - Waking Up with Mila

Mila loves the king sized bed! We had a crib brought to our room and I was afraid that she might not like it because it wasn't hers. We figured she would just end up sleeping with us if she didn't. But nope, she was happy sleeping in the hotel crib next to our bed and then when she woke up, we would cuddle with her in ours. Love it!

Orlando - Day at Aquatica!

We made it to Aquatica!!! I was so excited to bring Mila here! I'd read there was a great water feature toddler section that kids love - that was the highlight of our trip I was most looking forward to!

Mila looooooved this slide! She wanted to go on it over and over and over again! So fun!

I wish I'd gotten a better picture of her in her adorable bathing suit!

After swimming, we changed her into her clothes and within minutes of being in the stroller, she was out like a light!

After Aquatica, we met up with my fantastic friend, Gaby and her boyfriend Fed at my favorite restaurant Cafe Tutu Tango! What a great way to end the day!

Orlando - Dinner with the Vega's

22 weeks, 5 days pregnant

We arrived in Orlando yesterday afternoon! I was really concerned about the drive, it's about 3 hours long, and I was worried how Mila would handle it. But you know what, it wasn't bad at all! We left right around her nap time and she slept most of the way there! I was able to read and surf the web on Daddy's new iPad! (That's what Mila got him for Father's Day/Christmas this year!) When we arrived, Mila loved the hotel room and loved playing on the huge king-sized bed!

Today Jorge had to go to his conference and Mila and I just hung around the hotel. There was lots to see! For dinner, we met up with our good friends, the Vegas! Mike and Dania are super nice and they have two sweet little girls - Alexis and Ashlee. They were so great with Mila. They liked playing with her and coloring with her - Mila loved the attention from the big kids! After dinner, we walked around Downtown Disney and they ran loose in this grassy area near the restaurants. The dads chased the girls while Dania and I talked. We all had a great time!

On Vacation - Hyde Park, NY

25 weeks, 6 days pregnant

The last leg of our trip was to Hyde Park, New York. There we toured Springwood, the house of our 32nd president, Franklin Delano Roosevelt and his wife, Eleanor Roosevelt. The house was really pretty and you can see the ramps that were built to accomodate his wheelchair. We also took a tour of the FDR Presidential Library and it was fascinating to learn more about him and his life, as well as the impact he and Eleanor had on our country.





"Franklin Delano Roosevelt (January 30, 1882 – April 12, 1945) a four term president and the only U.S. President elected to more than two terms, was a central figure in world events during the mid-20th century, leading the United States during a time of worldwide economic crisis and world war. Often referred to by his initials, FDR won his first of four presidential elections in 1932, while the United States was in the depths of the Great Depression. His combination of optimism and economic activism is often credited with keeping the country's economic crisis from developing into a political crisis. He led the United States through most of World War II, and died in office of a cerebral hemorrhage, shortly before the war ended."

His inauguration on March 4, 1933 occurred in the middle of a bank panic, hence the backdrop for his famous words: "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself." It was so interesting to draw the parallels of the state of the economy as it was then to what it is now. Very applicable to today!



"Eleanor Roosevelt was the First Lady of the United States from 1933 to 1945. She supported the New Deal policies of her husband, Franklin D. Roosevelt, and assumed a role as an advocate for civil rights. After her husband's death in 1945, Roosevelt continued to be an internationally prominent author, speaker, politician, and activist for the New Deal coalition. She grew into a woman with great sensitivity to the underprivileged of all creeds, races, and nations. Her constant work to improve their lot made her one of the most loved--and one of the most revered--women of her generation."

We also took a tour of the Vanderbilt House that was just down the street from FDR's house. It was one of his brothers that built the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina -- where Jorge and I got engaged!



"Modeled after the English country house, Frederick William Vanderbilt's 54-room country palace in Hyde Park, built in 1898, is one of the first steel-framed houses in the U.S., and at 55,000 square feet, was actually the smallest and least expensive of the famed Vanderbilt mansions. Decorated in grand French style, the mansion is located on a beautiful spot on the Hudson and is both a historic home to visit and a great picnic spot for those who live in the area."
